Carapace Armor is so named because it warps around the user's body in a natural fashion like a carapace. It is often segmented to allow mobility.
Nature[]
Carapace Armor is almost always made with a ceramic material as the outer layer. It can also have metal under layers with circuitry. Some have packets of Medical Gel, that are released when the armor is pierced and the wearer is wounded.
They are usually immune to normal bullets and were designed to endure plasma bolts.
Use[]
Carapace Armor is used primarily by the more advanced and wealthy civilizations in the galaxy. They are usually military hardware but it is not uncommon to see someone like a bounty hunter wearing a set.
