Running on similar mechanics to Nuclear Plasma Storm Reactors, a particle engine, is a scaled down, simplified version of that machine. Housed in a special casing, the electromagnetic rings spin as they are driven by the plasma in the capsule, and in turn spin its around. The electrical field is used to generate a charge that is used to power machines.
Like its large cousin, it is based the principles of Closed Energy Circuits, but which in real life simply means that the engine has a long running time, before it needs to worry about fuel.
In terms of fuel, usually anything that is flammable is sprayed into the field, becoming plasma and thus part of the particle field that gives the device its name.
